Schindler's List Part 5 - Bread and Butter in Berlin Video

Knowledge Cotton Apparel arrives at Schindler - First in the UK!

Fresh from the Bread and Butter Trade Fair in Berlin, we're back in the UK and we've got some new knowledge. Literally.

Knowledge Cotton Apparel is a clothing company based in Denmark with in excess of 40 years of family experience in design, innovation, responsible environmental practice, and passion for quality.

These fundamental standards remain at the core of their business philosophy today.

In 1969 Jørgen Mørup founded J.Mørup Stof fabric mill. At the time, the factory mill was located in a small former firestation in central Jutland, Denmark. The company was focused on a personal commitment by Jørgen Mørup to producing only a limited selection of unique, high quality, Cotton sportswear textiles. Over time, while fashion, industry and technology have changed, the foundation of Jørgen Mørup’s commitment has remained. Today, J.Mørup Stof is a leader in the development and manufacturing of 100% Organic Cotton knitted fabrics of unsurpassed quality and is one of the largest Organic Cotton producers in Northern Europe.

Continuing the family legacy and principles established by his father, Mads Mørup has founded Knowledge Cotton Apparel in respect for his own history and tradition, with a new vision for sustainable quality and design to pass on to future generations. Knowledge Cotton Apparel only uses 100% Certified Organic Cotton.

Having met with them in Berlin, we have since been in touch with the brand and have 4 colours of their organic cotton polo shirts in store and online, not to mention the hugely impressive heavy woven cotton parka. It has a real authentic feel to it with all the hallmarks of that timeless mountaineering look that looks just as at home on the street.

Latest Schindler Video Magazine - Issue 2 4th July 09

New brands due in store and online

With the country in the grip of a rare heatwave, it may seem a strange time to be talking about the forthcoming Autumn/Winter stock we have due in store soon, but such is the nature of mens fashion!

Most shops take in their big jackets and their jumpers in July and August and we're no different. As usual with Schindler Shop we will be bringing you an impressive mix of old favourites and new kids on the block. And it's two of those new kids we're going to introduce to you right now.

First up is a brand which could rightly argue with our description of it as a new kid if we're being fair. Sharpeye is the brainchild of Barrie K. Sharpe. He was part of a duo behind the early 1990's music style of Groundbeat, an Acid / Jazz / Rare Groove offshoot that had its roots in the London area and old soul vinyl record shops. The act first came to the attention in the late 1980s, signing to London Records dance offshoot ffrr. They released singles such as The Masterpan, Love or Nothing and The Sun Worshippers as well as the album The Black, the White, The Yellow and The Brown.

In 1984 Sharpe created the now world renowned brand Duffer Of St George and designed all of its collection's until 1997. It was in 1997 that Sharpe launched the sucessful clothing brands Sharpeye and Suiceyed and now operates a handful of stores in the London area.
After slipping away from the ever growing commercial success of "Duffer", Barrie K. Sharpe decided to return to the original "Inna Citi" street ethos he had created. Barrie went to the crossroads and retraced his steps, holding "Sharpeye" steady and maintaining maximium credibility for his market.

Now sharpeye is ready to evolve and establish its rightful places in the main fashion arena.

While sharpeye have their roots on the street, Musto are a brand synonomous with the sea having been founded in 1965 by Keith Musto, a British Olympic Sailor and Engineer. Using his experience he created clothing aimed at technical excellence able to withstand the most extreme conditions, keeping the wearer warm, dry, comfortable and most importantly looking good.
